  • Muhammad Irshad Ansa : I am from Karachi Pakistan. Hypo Kpp ... Watching this live stream
  • Muhammad Irshad Ansa : I am From Karachi Pakistan.
  • Muhammad Irshad Ansa : Hi
  • Don Anderson : Listening closer, it sounds like Dr Cannon said the opposite: (bumetanide)..."...is an inhibitor of a co-transporter of moving cl into muscle..."... I'm not sure what that means.
  • Don Anderson : I meant why do we take potassium bicarb to recover?
  • Don Anderson : Opps... indicated recovery is established by cl ions getting back into the muscle cells. So why do we take potassium chloride. I think it's a mistake.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : So, thanks all for attending. The webstream will be closed shortly
  • Don Anderson : Both Dr Cannon and Dr P...
  • Webmaster (Eric) : She thanked you very much
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Barbara, Thanks. I gave Annet your email address

  • Webmaster (Eric) : Cathy, I passed your question to the panel
  • Nora Bilz : Sorry, don't know Lynn.
  • Nora Bilz : Thank you Janet!
  • Lynn Salvadore : Nora and Eric, It sounded like Dr. Alan Barr who was bringing up that issue? I'd like to know too.
  • Janet Stone : https://www.omim.org/entry/615511
  • Janet Stone : Nora, I think this is the condition:
  • Cathy Saelens : Anyone of the doctors can explaine why voltaren emulgel can cause severe paralysis in hyperKPP? Having two longlasting periods on the two days I used it.
  • Nora Bilz : What was this constitution named that 20% of european might have? Had been to quick for me to notice the right name...

I have been seeing a Doctor at UF in Gainesville Florida She is a Doctor of spine cord injuries that got into Acupuncture to help her patients with there pain.. It has helped me a great deal with my muscle pain. that has made it easier to walk around. also has helped in the attack of my episodes. I would like to know if anyone else has tried this avenue? This is still new to me

  • Webmaster (Eric) : Hi Guys we'ra online again
  • Lynn Salvadore : Hi Nora!
  • Nora Bilz : Hi guys!
  • Lynn Salvadore : Eric, a note to the doctor when he asked how many people are "bendy, stretchy" and he said that about a quarter of the audience raised their hands ... I wanted to note that maybe half the audience is care givers. That means that closer to half the PPers are affected. Could you mention that to him? thanks.
  • Lynn Salvadore : Good nite to Irm too!
  • Webmaster (Eric) : bye Rene
  • Webmaster (Eric) : bye Lynn
  • J. Rene Tory : Thanks for the message. Goodnight!
  • Lynn Salvadore : Thanks Eric! See you tomorrow πŸ™‚
  • Webmaster (Eric) : So, we will close the stream shortly. Thanks for attending and hopefully till tomorrow.
  • J. Rene Tory : πŸ˜€
  • Webmaster (Eric) : She was happy with the advice
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Thanks Lynn, I reached her and told your experience
  • J. Rene Tory : I see my Utah peeps πŸ˜€
  • Lynn Salvadore : Eric, maybe you can pass this to the woman who asked the question: During a hypokpp attack when I can't swallow my husband puts a tiny piece of efferk under my tongue. That's usually enough to get things started enough to get me swallowing.
  • Lynn Salvadore : Lots of good info.
  • Janet Stone : We do, too. We've had seizures and paralysis in several family members. I can't get any vaccines.
  • Lynn Salvadore : We're ATS2
  • Lynn Salvadore : My family has a reaction to vaccinations. We become sick for several months, PP flare ups.
  • J. Rene Tory : Hi Karen.
  • Karen Carr Biehl : I graduated from Ferris State University too! Lol. Class of 77.
  • Lynn Salvadore : Please thank him. He talked about a lot of things that our family has observed and discussed.
  • J. Rene Tory : I have inactive TB - that's interesting
  • J. Rene Tory : Dr. Hendersen is awesome. And he's also a Navy Vet.
  • J. Rene Tory : My POTS gets worse when potassium is dropping based on labs
  • J. Rene Tory : There is also the abnormal CLIVO-AXIAL angle
  • J. Rene Tory : Thank you Lynn. I never got to meet her. My uncle has told me all about her health problems.
  • Lynn Salvadore : J. Rene Tory, I'm sorry about your mother
  • J. Rene Tory : Unless you have had surgery and the joint is stiff
  • J. Rene Tory : Yaaaaah. I stayed home in bed today. The PAIN is the worst.
  • J. Rene Tory : πŸ˜€ I have all of the EDS sx - but my PP responds to PP treatment but also have rare neuro mutations.
  • Lynn Salvadore : look i'm popping my thumb out of joint and holding it up to the screen. ... oh never mind you can't see it.
  • J. Rene Tory : I'm soooo glad they are bringing this up!!!
  • J. Rene Tory : ME too; mother died of an aneurism at 28 - I have been lucky
  • Lynn Salvadore : my family has hypermobility
  • Janet Stone : Me, too. VEDS but no family history of ruptured aorta, etc so a milder form with hypermobility.
  • J. Rene Tory : I believe they may be a comorbidity EDS & PP
  • J. Rene Tory : I have EDS provisional diagnosis of VEDS
  • J. Rene Tory : Janet yes that's what I'm looking for. My treating doctor used to work at NIH; I'm grateful he is willing to help me get involved with NIH and I hope it works out. Thank you.
  • Janet Stone : Rene, I've gotten in on some informal studies by writing researchers with recently published papers. Often they don't have funding for the big clinical trials but can work with smaller groups.
  • J. Rene Tory : Hi Linda, I miss half of the comments anyway. I didn't see an LOL. πŸ˜€
  • linda protheroe : that LOL wasn't about your comment Rene.. sorry that was because Jake was being silly with the camera....
  • Janet Stone : I have gotten in on studies by writing to researchers who have recently published papers on my condition. They are often informal and sometimes kind of exploring to determine if a larger scale study is feasible.
  • J. Rene Tory : LOL πŸ˜€
  • J. Rene Tory : HI
  • linda protheroe : lol
  • J. Rene Tory : Thanks for the link however I prefer to work with a researcher and not wait for a large study. I'm registered already for these clinical trial sites.
  • Janet Stone : https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?cond=Andersen+Tawil+Syndrome&term=&cntry1=&state1=&recrs=ab
  • Janet Stone : Rene, this is a good site for checking on research. There aren't any studies recruiting right now for ATS:
  • J. Rene Tory : I would like to know how to get involved in research for ATS besides involvement with NIH.
  • Miriam Breslauer : How many of those female gene carriers are late onset or have weakness that pops up at points (like Dr. Jake's mom)?
  • J. Rene Tory : πŸ˜€
  • Janet Stone : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3646240/
  • Janet Stone : Miriam, this is one study:
  • Miriam Breslauer : Has any versions of Bi-polar disorder been found to be an ion channel disorder? I remembered and then found some papers from 2013 and 2015 on the possibility.
  • Marile Hamman : Yes, Hyper w myotonia, myotonia is more often
  • Marile Hamman : @ Janet too cute, didn't realize! That's ok, they are gone as fast as i can make them.
  • Janet Stone : Next year is in Dublin, so you'll probably have to wait 2 years.
  • Marile Hamman : at the auction in Canada one of my blankets went for hundreds!!! not to brag, hahaha
  • Marile Hamman : know it is a bit early but could i get an address to send items for next auction or for other fundraisers. I make American Flag Blankets.
  • Miriam Breslauer : In theory 1:45 pm Scotsdale, Arizona time.
  • Marile Hamman : Auction always a blast! When is the next medical talk?
  • Lynn Salvadore : Hi Nora!
  • Nora Bilz : Hello!
  • Miriam Breslauer : Yep. I have so many conversations I want to join in on. πŸ™‚
  • Lynn Salvadore : That must be odd Miriam. It's like we should all pull up a chair too.
  • Lynn Salvadore : hi Don!
  • Miriam Breslauer : It is a little odd to to be watching the lunch feed and seeing my own parents in the background. πŸ™‚
  • Don Anderson : Hello
  • Miriam Breslauer : Hi Don!
  • Don Anderson : hello
  • Don Anderson : Hi everyone
  • Lynn Salvadore : thanks
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Lynn, i passed your question
  • Lynn Salvadore : Is this a leak for hypo and hyper?
  • linda protheroe : thank you Eric...
  • Janet Stone : Much better sound this time
  • Webmaster (Eric) : We encountered network problems. The stream was lost. So reload your page since the redirections is changed
  • Lynn Salvadore : ok new session with Dr. Cannon if you restart it
  • Janet Stone : No, just the last session.
  • J. Rene Tory : Still no live feed. Has it started again?
  • Janet Stone : It looks the same in all the browsers I've checked so it's not an issue with Chrome
  • Janet Stone : That's what usually shows up between live feeds
  • linda protheroe : thank you
  • J. Rene Tory : No live feed
  • Lynn Salvadore : i think i'm getting a recording from early this morning.
  • linda protheroe : same here the video i am getting now is from before
  • Miriam Breslauer : I am not getting a live video
  • Janet Stone : Make sure you refresh the page and hit the play button again
  • J. Rene Tory : Yes Chrome has had the same issues all along
  • Janet Stone : It's temporarily off - Eric's probably making some adjustments
  • linda protheroe : no stream? I am on chrome.. and still having some issues..
  • guest_7348 Debra Joh : Hi Jake, l notice that the attendees have written materials to follow along, and l like to know that if l send in a $10.00 donation for the cost of postage and handling, can I please get all of the materials (3 days) mailed to me. I streaming from Texas. I have Hypokpp.
  • Janet Stone : Eric, the sound last night was perfect, but today it's distorted. I'm not sure if it's a difference in the processing rate (maybe because it's a weekend and less bandwidth?)
  • linda protheroe : thank you Janet..
  • Janet Stone : Patients who take potassium chloride long-term, i.e., are at risk for developing vitamin B-12 deficiency. Potassium supplements such as K-Dur, Micro-K, Slow-K, K-Lyte, etc. interfere with the absorption of vitamin B-12 and can eventually lead to the depletion of body stores of this crucial vitamin.
  • Janet Stone : From HKPP.org:
  • Miriam Breslauer : No. I missed the B_12 info.
  • linda protheroe : Did anyone hear what he said about B_12
  • Lynn Salvadore : Low pressure is a huge trigger
  • Lynn Salvadore : Barometric pressure affects me too
  • Miriam Breslauer : Barometric pressure affects me as well.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Janet, i passed your question to Dr Weber
  • Janet Stone : *from damage like vacuoles
  • Janet Stone : Question for Dr. Weber: Is the progressive myopathy in HyperKPP from damage to vacuoles or some other mechanism?
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Stream will be offline for a few seconds after this lecture. I lost a camera so have to reset the stream software
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Oh....reports= problems
  • Webmaster (Eric) : For those who have reports to stream, i got remarks that chrome does work without problems
  • Miriam Breslauer : Thanks
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Hi Miriam, sorry, but that's not possible now. The presentation will be available on the site later
  • Miriam Breslauer : Is it possible to get the camera to look more dead on the picture screen?
  • Cathy Saelens : Everything ok now for me
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Please let me know if there are still sound problems
  • J. Rene Tory : me too
  • Lynn Salvadore : i lost stream too
  • linda protheroe : ops just lost stream
  • J. Rene Tory : Yes it does. I cannot hear anything.
  • Lynn Salvadore : my sound goes out too
  • Janet Stone : Keep losing the sound here, too
  • linda protheroe : ops keep losing sound. is it me?
  • guest_6667Jan Grover : Jan grover again...the return button works like submit!!...so to finish my story...a month ago I had the high power flu shot and within 6 hours I was violently SHAKING and had chills. Was able to go to sleep using heated pads. Upon awaking I couldn't get up or turnover or speak coherently. My daughter realized that I was having an attack and sent my 18 yr old grandson (who has been having attacks since he was very young) over with a packet of potassium, within about 20 minutes after drinking
  • Miriam Breslauer : The sound keeps cutting out.
  • guest_6667Jan Grover : Genetic test revealed CACNAIS P.R528H
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Goodmorning everybody. We are back online. If the stream does not load, make sure you reload your page. The stream redirection will be different every day.
  • J. Rene : FYI The stream is about 10 minutes delayed on the PC verses iPhone.
  • Miriam Breslauer : Doh. I woke up too early. πŸ™
  • Janet Stone : It's only 6:30 in Scottsdale
  • Miriam Breslauer : For Jake Levitt. I have used Irlen Lenses for 10 years to deal with extreme Light Sensitivity. The Irlen Lenses helped me be able to read and walk in a straight line again. They don't help with flashing lights.
  • Miriam Breslauer : I am not seeing today's feed. I am seeing Yesterday's feed.
  • Miriam Breslauer : Thanks Lynn, but unfortunately that message going to that address failed as well.
  • Lynn Salvadore : I saw that he spells his name Segal. I think it might be: segal.m@alkalidx.com
  • Miriam Breslauer : I tried to send an e-mail to Dr. Seagal and it failed twice (seagal.m@alkalidx.com). I would like to contact him about the HypoKPP-Plus.
  • Miriam Breslauer : How do you convince an ER to give you Manitol to mix with a Potassium IV? I have gone to many different ERs and have never successfully convinced them to give me a Manitol IV in an Emergency. This is even with Manitol being listed in my paperwork.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : So thanks you all. Tomorrow we'll be back
  • Barbara Baker : I am thankful to be able to participate from afar! The quality of the picture and sound is excellent! What a gift you are providing! Thank you Eric and all who are making this possible!
  • Lynda Wick : Thank You SO Very Much for the Live stream. I came in at the last 1/2 hour tonight but am just thrilled. Will be sure to listen in tomorrow.
  • Lynn Salvadore : Eric, this was really great. I felt like I was sitting at the table.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : this means: dig in into it.... (sorry for my English)
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Interesting idea. I will try to dig in this
  • Karen Carr Biehl : I am really curious about facial recognition software and it's possible future role in directing towards a diagnosis for folks with Andersen Tawil Syndrome.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Thanks Karen
  • Nora Bilz : Yes, Karen: Earl Grey Tea for example
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Karen, I passed your comment to Michael Seagal
  • Karen Carr Biehl : Bergamot tea affects ion channels..
  • Karen Carr Biehl : Bergamot tea... affect the ion channels
  • Webmaster (Eric) : guest_8080: read the above!
  • Nora Bilz : Thank you, Eric!
  • guest_8080 : What about expression of the clinical disease state after serious illness or trauma?
  • Annette : Are there any participants with HyperKPP?
  • Webmaster (Eric) : It will be placed on the site soon
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Hi Nora, yes, I am recording it as well.
  • Nora Bilz : Eric, youβ€˜re recording the conference? Itβ€˜s too late here in Germany to stay awake.
  • Lynn Salvadore : Eric: thanks, I was trying to write it down when he said it, but since I have trouble focusing (which is why I asked the question, haha) I couldn't get it fast enough.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Lynn: seagal.m@alkalidx.com
  • Lynn Salvadore : Eric, thanks.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Lynn, I passed your question to Michael
  • Marile Hamman : Yes, it is wonderful being able to watch from home! Thank you
  • Lynn Salvadore : Eric: I have ATS2 with ADD, lidocaine insensitive, and so does my son. Does Mickey have a good email address to write to him?
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Thank you Janet, you're welcome
  • Janet Stone : Great sound! Thanks so much for streaming this.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : @Marile: You're welcome
  • Marile Hamman : @ Eric, thanks so much. I spoke with Strongbridge last night, wonderful people there.
  • Janet Stone : Eric, will you ask a Strongbridge rep if they are offering the free testing for CLCN1 mutations, also?
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Marile: I asked the representatives of Strongbridge. Now, they can not give medical advise, but they strongly suggest you call your doctor and call 844-KEVEYIS and start from there.
  • Lynn Salvadore : Eric I understand, thanks for asking.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Lynn: The answer to you question is not public knowledge. Strongbridge could not comment on that.
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Cathy: There are no plans for a measurement device in the near future with Strongbridge
  • Lynn Salvadore : Eric can you ask how many ATS patients they have on Keyveis
  • Cathy Saelens : yes, i hear it πŸ™‚
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Cathy: Jake is talking about your question
  • Cathy Saelens : OK, thanks Eric and Jake
  • Lynn Salvadore : @Marile, is there a better way I can send you my meds list, there's a lot of info
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Cathy, Jake Levitt thinks that there are not plans yet, but I will pass it to Strongbridge as well
  • Cathy Saelens : Thanks
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Cathy, I'll pass your question to Strongbridge
  • Cathy Saelens : Are there plans in the future to develop a good en accurate potassium measurement device?
  • Marile Hamman : @ Lynn, please understand that I am not knocking Keveyis, my niece takes it and does her wonders!
  • Marile Hamman : @ Lynn, they will pay for Keveyis that is 150 percent more per month, funny how that workds
  • Marile Hamman : @ Lynn either way my insurance will not pay for it due to being a secondary drug and not for PPA. Third denial
  • Lynn Salvadore : @ Marile. Ugh. So sorry.
  • Marile Hamman : @ Lynn, I have tried to generic and can't take it, I ended up in the hospital when i took it, the generic has all sorts of compounds in it
  • Marile Hamman : What do you take or do to help?
  • Nora Bilz : Hi, back again
  • Marile Hamman : Hey Lynn
  • Lynn Salvadore : @ Marile I'm ATS2, swing hypo/hyper, mostly hyper with myotonia
  • Lynn Salvadore : @Marile are you in the US? I think I pay about $50 for 90 tables of 200 mg. of generic Topamax at Costco
  • Marile Hamman : thanks,........
  • Webmaster (Eric) : Marile, I will pass your comment to Strongbridge.
  • Marile Hamman : I am Hyper w Paramyotonia, been taking Topamax for over 15 years with great success and insurance will no longer pay for it, started taking Keveyis just over 90 days now and at 200 mg daily. Using walking almost daily now, sleeping almost 18 hours a day and was doing great for the past 15 years. Not knocking the new drug, HELP? Love yall and miss yah, good to see you again, Marile
